How much do you charge?
We generally work on a project fee basis, so pricing is varied. What that means, is that we will meet/talk with a potential client, define the project parameters and determine the time and costs associated with producing a final product. Or, sometimes, we throw a dart at the price board.
How do I pick one design firm over another? What should I look for?
A mature business should be looking for a partner to help craft their external and internal image that goes beyond the “we just need a pretty brochure” phase. If you are looking for smart, strategic design solutions, try to determine which firm best demonstrates the ability to understand what is unique about you and your business. If that doesn’t work, you can always throw a dart at the price board.
Why is design pricing so varied?
The field of marketing and design services is constantly changing. Businesses can lay claim to expertise that is hard to quantify. One firm may have a collective 75 years of experience to leverage and another may have 5. Both can end up bidding the same job. Both may lay claim to having the expertise to solve your company’s problem. Accurate pricing should reflect both the level of expertise of the design firm and the scope of services being asked to be completed. If the pricing seems inaccurate . . . well . . . did we mention the price board?
I just need a brochure/website/etc. Do you do that?
Absolutely. While we love to do more comprehensive branding exercises, a good portion of our work is still project based, tactical work (such as a brochures and websites).
I saw that I can get a logo on a website for $100. Why shouldn’t I use them?
Because its wrong. Wrong I tell you! Just kidding. Those type of sites can be useful for cash strapped startups. If you are an established business, or a business that is competing in anything from a regional to global marketplace, it is not a good idea to use one of these sites. Why? Simply put, you do not know what you are buying. And they don’t know you well enough to provide you with a unique and appropriate solution. How could they? There are no meetings, no in-depth research and certainly not enough time put in to develop a truly unique and timeless solution.
How many people will be working on my project if I hire you?
You’ll hear the word “we” a lot while you browse this website. That is because it is rare that we do a job that doesn’t entail a team of designers, writers and programmers which are assembled to do the job. Some of the talented folks we work with are listed on the links page. The team assembled depends on the job, so sometimes you’ll get Matt, other times you’ll get Matt + a writer, designer, programmer and trained attack dog.
